Our verdict: Trend Micro Maximum Security is a full paid suite: real-time antivirus and ransomware protection, scam and phishing filters, Pay Guard for banking, parental controls, a password manager and dark web monitoring for up to five devices. You can test everything for 30 days. If you only need malware protection, Microsoft Defender or a free antivirus covers the basics without a subscription.
About Trend Micro Maximum Security
Maximum Security is the mid-range Trend Micro consumer suite, between Internet Security (3 Windows PCs) and Premium Security Suite (10 devices). It covers Windows, Mac, Android, iOS and Chromebook and combines AI-based malware and ransomware protection with blocking of dangerous websites, scam and phishing email detection, Pay Guard for checking banking sites, social media privacy checks, parental controls with time and content limits, a PC optimizer, a password manager and alerts when your personal data appears on the dark web. A personal VPN is not included in this edition.
The Windows installer offers a Trial Version that runs with full protection for 30 days. After that, Trend Micro says you need to buy the full version to stay protected. On the official US store a 1-year subscription for 5 devices costs $74.95 in the first year, discounted from a regular $104.95; auto-renewal terms are shown in the cart. If you buy before the trial ends, the remaining trial days are added to the subscription.
