Our verdict: Motrix handles ordinary downloads, torrents and magnet links in one tidy window, which makes it a pleasant replacement for the browser's download list plus a separate torrent client. The stable 1.8.19 release dates from May 2023; development continues in the 2.0 beta, so the stable app has not changed for a while.
About Motrix
Motrix is a desktop front end for the aria2 download engine. It downloads files over HTTP and FTP, splits them into several connections for speed, and handles BitTorrent and magnet links, including selecting files inside a torrent and managing tracker lists. Tasks can be paused, resumed, retried and prioritized from one list.
The app is free and open source under the MIT License and has been developed on GitHub since 2018. The current stable version for Windows is 1.8.19 from May 2023. A rebuilt Motrix 2.0 is in public beta and adds plugins, but betas may be less stable.
