Our verdict: AOMEI Backupper Standard is an easy free backup tool for system images and scheduled file backups. It covers incremental backups, bootable media and basic folder sync. Key features such as cloning the system disk to a new SSD, differential backups and encryption require a paid edition.
About AOMEI Backupper Standard
AOMEI Backupper Standard is the free edition of AOMEI's backup software for Windows home users. It backs up the operating system, whole disks, partitions or individual files to an internal or external disk, USB drive, network share, NAS, cloud drive folder or CD/DVD, on a schedule and with incremental backups.
It can also sync folders on a schedule, restore files, partitions or the full system, and create bootable recovery media. The free edition clones only data disks: system disk cloning, differential backups, encryption, real-time and two-way sync, backup cleanup schemes and Universal Restore are reserved for the paid Professional and Workstation editions.
What it does well
- System and disk backup. Back up Windows, whole disks, partitions or files.
- Scheduled incremental backups. Run backups automatically and save only changed data.
- Many backup targets. Local, external and USB drives, network shares, NAS, cloud drive folders and discs.
- Basic sync. Syncs folders from a source to a destination manually or on a schedule.
- Bootable media. Creates a rescue disk to restore a PC that will not start.
