Our verdict: Meetily is a private alternative to cloud meeting bots: it records your computer's audio, transcribes it on your own PC and writes summaries. The free Community Edition covers the essentials. Speaker identification, meeting auto-detection and calendar features are reserved for the paid Pro edition.
About Meetily
Meetily is an open-source meeting assistant under the MIT license from Zackriya Solutions. It captures microphone and system audio, transcribes in real time with Whisper or Parakeet models running locally, and stores recordings and transcripts on your device. The Windows build uses Vulkan for Whisper and needs a CPU with AVX2.
For summaries you choose a local model through Ollama, which works offline, or your own API key for Claude, Groq, OpenRouter, OpenAI or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint; in that case the transcript is sent to that provider. Meetily Pro is a paid edition that adds speaker diarization, a custom model connector, meeting auto-detection, calendar integration and PDF/DOCX exports.
What it does well
- Local transcription. Transcribes meetings on your PC with Whisper or Parakeet models.
- Meeting summaries. Writes summaries with Ollama locally or with your own cloud API key.
- Audio capture. Records microphone and system audio together from any meeting app.
- Import audio. Transcribes existing recordings (beta feature).
- Local storage. Keeps recordings and transcripts on your device.
Who it is for
Good fit
Professionals who need meeting transcripts and summaries without sending audio to a cloud service.
Look elsewhere
Teams that need speaker labels and calendar automation for free, and PCs without AVX2.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Free and open source
- Transcription runs locally
- Choice of local or cloud summaries
- No meeting bot joins your call
Cons
- Speaker identification only in paid Pro
- Needs an AVX2 CPU; no native Linux app yet
- Summary quality depends on the model you set up
How to install Meetily
Run the x64 setup file; an MSI package is also published in the same release. Choose a Whisper or Parakeet transcription model before your first meeting; larger models are more accurate but slower. For offline summaries install Ollama and a model; otherwise enter an API key for a cloud provider.
Questions about Meetily
Is Meetily free?
Yes. The Community Edition is open source under the MIT license and free. Meetily Pro is a paid edition with extra features such as speaker diarization.
Does Meetily upload my meetings?
No for transcription, which runs locally. Summaries stay local with Ollama; if you use a cloud API key, the transcript is sent to that provider.
