Our verdict: Logitech G HUB is required to get the most out of Logitech G mice, keyboards, headsets and wheels: DPI steps, button remapping, macros, lighting and per-game profiles. It only works with Logitech G gear, and it is a large app that keeps running in the background.
About Logitech G HUB
G HUB is Logitech's configuration software for its Logitech G gaming devices. It sets mouse DPI steps and polling rate, remaps buttons and keys, records macros, configures headset equalizer and microphone settings, and controls LIGHTSYNC RGB effects, which can be synced across devices or with Windows Dynamic Lighting. Settings can be saved to the device's onboard memory on supported models.
Profiles switch automatically when a game or app starts, and the Games section lets you organize and launch your game library. Newer keyboards are configured through the KEYCONTROL interface. Older generations of Astro headsets use the separate Astro Command Center app.

How to install Logitech G HUB
The download is an online installer that fetches the rest of G HUB during setup. Signing in to a Logitech account is optional and only needed for cloud-synced profiles and community downloads. If a device keeps its settings in onboard memory, you can save a profile there and turn off G HUB at startup.
