Our verdict: Harmonoid is a good-looking, light music player for people with their own music files, and it is not another Electron app. It plays nearly every format through mpv and FFmpeg. The code is public but not open source, and crossfade, artist images, the tag editor and lyrics translations are premium features.
About Harmonoid
Harmonoid is a music player and library manager by Hitesh Kumar Saini, built with Flutter and following Material Design 3 and 2. It indexes your music folders, reads tags, shows albums, artists and genres, and plays through an mpv and FFmpeg backend, so it supports practically all audio formats.
Playback options include gapless playback, speed and pitch adjustment, volume boost, ReplayGain and exclusive audio. It also has lyrics from files or online, playlists, Last.fm scrobbling and Discord Rich Presence. According to the release notes, crossfade, artist images, the tag editor and lyrics translations are premium features for people who support the project on Patreon. The source is published under the PolyForm Strict License, which is not an open-source license.
